Liz Clifton: How to create and enjoy a calm holistic life

16

What does calm mean to you?

The first thing for you to understand is what does calm mean to you.

Take a moment in peace and quiet where you will be alone and if it’s safe to do so, close your eyes and imagine a moment of calm.

It can be a real memory or an imagined moment where you’re feeling absolutely calm.

As you feel that relaxing sense of calm flowing into you notice what you can see?

Notice what you can hear?

Notice what you can feel?

Notice what You can taste?

Notice what you can smell?

Notice what you can touch?

Then gently clear away the image and open your eyes.

Ask yourself what was the very last thing that you ate?

Now, everything that you just noticed is part of what calm means to you in this specific moment.

You can get a wider, deeper sense of what calm means to you by imagining other moments of calm either real or imagined and being aware of what comes up for you.

Are they the same sites, sounds, feelings, tastes, smells and textures, or are they different?

Calm comes in so many different ways to everyone.

We’re all unique and we each experience emotions and feelings in different ways in the sense of calm will have stacked up for you over the years.

You’re very first moment of calm will have occurred before you’re even 3 years old and often much earlier than that.

Now the beauty of you and your mind is the wonderful capacity that it holds to absorb so much information through all of your senses in every moment.

And what we’re looking to do here is to empower you to remain calm to have a beautiful base of calm as a foundation for your life for the whole of your life.

Why create a calm holistic life?

So consider now the different areas of your life and how different they could be if you were to view them from a calm mindset.

If you could approach them with clear, calm balance and a sense of curiosity and enjoyment.

Consider your environment that you live in right now. How would it be to enjoy it from a calm perspective every morning, every evening and the holidays and weekends?

How would it be to enjoy each of your relationships from a sense of calm connection to be able to communicate with yourself and others from a deep place of calm?

And how would it be to approach your finances and your daily work and activities from a place of calm?

I imagine that these thoughts create a difference to what you’re experiencing right now.

The great news is that you can begin today to step towards your wonderful unique calm holistic life.

In the past you may have got stuck in the day-to-day actions and activities of your life. Perhaps feeling trapped in old emotions in old thoughts and stress.

Creating a calm holistic life enables you to process release and let go of these old emotional blocks and baggage.

Which then in turn allows you to start to choose how to feel in each and every moment from a balance calm epicentre.

Simple calming practices for you to try:

Here are a few calming activities to help you begin your journey to holistic calm in your life:

Breathe out for the count of 2

Repeat until you feel calm and enjoy a calming pause and reset anywhere with ease.
